We have the pleasure to welcome James Hutchison for a few days in the lab, till November 29. He will stay in room 107 during his visit. His 18 months secondment in Melbourne turned into a 4 years “Future fellow” position so he will fly back to Australia soon…

Some more visitors
Today, we welcome our last master student of the year, Bianca Patrahau who will stay 2 months among us. Bianca is romanian and followed the Physical Chemistry and Material Sciences Master here in Strasbourg before to join.
In addition, for the next three days, Dr Kenji Hirai, assistant professor from Hokkaido University, will be among us. If you wish to meet him, don’t hesitate to pass by.
Xiaolan’s visit
After Jino George, this is the turn of Xiaolan Zhong, now assistant professor in Beihang University, Beijing, to visit the lab and to spend some time among us, welcome back !
Jino is back
Our former postdoc Jino George, now assistant professor at IISER Mohali, arrived in Strasbourg last Friday and will stay two weeks among us. Welcome back !
Visit of Atef Shalabney
Atef Shalabney, now assistant professor in ORT Braude College, is courageous enough to leave the sweet sun of Israël and visit us for 3 weeks. He’ll be among us till March 1st and will be installed in room 107 during his stay.
French minister of research visited our lab
We received the visit of the french minister of Research, higher Education and Innovation, Mme Frédérique Vidal, last monday at ISIS, to announce the creation of a mission “Campus de l’Innovation” (see University of Strasbourg website for more information). We had in particular the opportunity to show her our FIB/SEM Auriga from Zeiss Company.

Seminar Pr. Javier Aizpurua
On Thursday the 9th of November, we will receive Pr. Javier Aizpurua, head of Theory of Nanophotonics group at DIPC in San Sebastian. He will give a talk entitled

at 11am, in the conference room of ISIS.
Mini-symposium and phD defenses on 14th and 15th of September
We are pleased to announce for next week a mini-symposium on light-matter strong coupling with three seminars given by members of the phD jurys of Hadi Bahsoun and Thibault Chervy : Prof. Jaime Gomez Rivas, Prof. Angel Rubio and Prof. Atac Imamoglu.
This mini-symposium will take place in the conference room of ISIS, on Friday 15th of September from 9pm. For the detailed program, see here below :
The day before, on Thursday 14th at 2pm, Hadi Bahsoun will defend his PhD thesis entitled Strong Coupling of Electronic Transitions of Molecular Materials in the Liquid Phase
Then on Friday 15th at 2pm, it will be the turn of Thibault Chervy, whose work is entitled Strong coupling regime of cavity quantum electrodynamics and its consequences on molecules and materials
These works have been done under the supervision Prof. T.W. Ebbesen and in both cases, a small reception will follow the defense at the 6th floor of ISIS.
Seminar Pr. Jana Zaumseil
Next Thursday, 7 of September, we will have the pleasure to receive Prof. Jana Zaumseil, from Institute for Physical Chemistry, Heidelberg University, Germany for a seminar entitled
“Optical and Electrical Generation of Exciton-Polaritons in Semiconducting Single-Walled Carbon Nanotubes”
It will take place in the Salle de Conférence of ISIS at 2pm.
A paper on this subject has just been published in Nature Materials.
Indian guests
In the context of ICP conference that was held in Strasbourg this week, we had the pleasure to meet Pr. Prashant Kamat and Pr. George Thomas and their wifes. We thank them for their visit of our lab and for the nice time spent together !
And as you can see on the picture, James Hutchison was also back for the ICP !
